Treasure Island

I recently picked up a good classic; Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson (1883).  The author alone has an interesting life including many seafaring voyages and visits to some islands.  I'm sure it's some of that history that helped fuel his creativity.

It's a fun, fast moving story, with a simple plot.  If you have any sense of adventure at all, reading this book will certainly stir it up.  Great classic personalities, boyhood adventure, pirates, hidden treasure, villains, heroins, and a treasure map!  What more could you ask for.

"Fifteen men on the dead man's chest - Yo ho ho, and a bottle of rum!  Drink and the devil had done for the rest - Yo ho ho, and a bottle of rum!".  Famous words echoed by the pirates.  I feel like I can just hear the sailors singing the song.

Jim Hawkins and Long John Silver are two of the most memorable characters to me.  Of course they are the two primary characters as well.

An enjoyable read, a major publication in it's own era, and a classic for all time.
