This is the official first book in the Jack Reacher series.  The book I read previously is the prequel which is why I chose to read that one first.
The Killing Floor was another enjoyable read.  A book that is relatively easy but keeps you fully engaged with an exhilerating pace.  The totally random coincedence that starts the action is a little bit of a stretch but I guess sometimes it's a coincedence like that which creates just enough mystery.  Jack ends up in a random town where he is suddenly accused of murder.  Considering he was basically a drifter doesn't help him rid himself of those charges.  One of the early twists is that the person murdered is actually his brother.  Why was he randomly in a town where his brother was killed who he hadn't seen in years?  Like I said, quite a coincedence.  In the end the mystery, detective work, relationships, and action that unfolds makes it enjoyable.  Jack pretty much ends up how he started; drifting off to wherever the road might lead.
